After I finished getting ready for the group show at Fox Tax Gallery that opens next month I finally made the painting of the old bank (pre-remodel) in my original hometown of Anamosa Iowa. My dad commissioned it and I had made it with oil on canvas which was a disaster since all I had was a bad computer print from an old camera phone picture. I rather like the whimsical nature of this version and I may try some more now. Anyways, who wouldn't like a rainbow sidewalk.
This is the view from inside my utopia box (barbie size) that I've been playing with. I love Mylar and tinsel but as a whole it has yet to transcend from just being a pile of cheap crap that is hot glued to the inside of a box.
Here's a couple pictures from the Monster Draw benefit at Midway Contemporary Art. It was a whole lot of fun. The idea is that each group of artists work for an hour and everything they make is sold for $35 to raise money for Midway.
I finally have my studio together enough to get to work. I've been busy organizing all of my source materials and drawings for my next several paintings. More to come later.
